What If?

What if I weren’t me?

What if I were afraid every day?

What if I started to believe?

To believe I could be the woman you need…

A damsel in distress,

a delicate flower with no power,

with no thoughts to call my own,

just a woman to clean your home

Needing a man to make me whole,

where marriage is my only goal.

I could perfectly portray the woman of your dreams,

but it would never rise to the realms of the real.

Never more than a fantasy forged in the fires of your desires

An illusion that never alludes to what’s true,

I’m not the woman for you.
